  9. Installing Pronto Mail:

  12.    General
  13.    -------

  15.    Pronto Mail installation will install one of three possible
  16.    editions of our product:
  17.  
  18.    1. Pronto Family - Requires Windows 95 with 16MB memory or more
  19.    2. Pronto Pro    - Requires Windows 95
  20.    3. Pronto Lite   - Requires Windows 3.x
  21.  
  22.    The product that will be installed depends on your 
  23.    preference and on the minimal system requirements:
  24.  
  25.    - If Windows 3.x is installed on your PC, the lite version will be 
  26.      installed.
  27.    - If Windows 95 is installed on your PC, and you have less than 
  28.      16MB of memory, Pronto Pro will be installed.
  29.    - If Windows 95 is installed on your PC, and you have 16MB of 
  30.      memory or more, you can choose to install either Pronto Pro 
  31.      or Pronto Family.

  33.    Note for Windows 3.x users: 
  34.  
  35.      In the near future, a free 16-Bit version of Pronto Pro will 
  36.      replace Pronto Lite. This version will offer a much improved 
  37.      user interface and the full set of features available in the 
  38.      32-bit editions of Pronto.
  39.      Upon first run, Pronto Lite asks you to fill in a registration 
  40.      form. If you fill-in the registration details appropriately, 
  41.      you will be notified when Pronto Pro 16-bit edition becomes 
  42.      available.

  44.    To Install with MS Windows 3.x (Pronto Lite):
  45.    ---------------------------------------------

  47.    1. Insert your product CD-ROM into the appropriate CD drive.
  48.    2. Open the Program Manager window. 
  49.    3. From the Program Manager main menu, select File, then Run.
  50.       The Run dialog appears.
  51.    4. In the Command Line edit box enter the following text:
  52.       d:\pronto\setup
  53.       Note: if your CD drive letter is different then D:, use
  54.             the right letter instead (for example enter 
  55.             e:\pronto\setup if your CD drive is E:)
  56.    5. Follow the installation instructions.
  57.    6. After the installation is completed, a new program group 
  58.       window will appear, named Pronto Lite.
  59.    7. Click the Pronto icon in this group to start the program
  60.       for the first time.

  62.    To Install with Windows 95:
  63.    ---------------------------

  65.    1. Insert your product CD-ROM into the appropriate CD drive.
  66.       The installation program should start automatically, and 
  67.       you can continue directly with step 4 below. 
  68.       Continue with steps 2,3 only if for some reason the 
  69.       installation program did not start.
  70.    2. On the TaskBar, click start menu and select Run...
  71.    3. In the Open edit box enter the following text:
  72.       d:\pronto\setup
  73.       Note: if your CD drive letter is different then D:, use
  74.             the right letter instead (for example enter 
  75.             e:\pronto\setup if your CD drive is E:)
  76.    4. Follow the installation instructions. 
  77.    5. After the installation is completed a new shortcut with Pronto
  78.       icon appears.
  79.    6. Click the Pronto icon to start the program for the first time.

  82.    First-Time running (Pronto-Pro and Pronto-Family Only)
  83.    ------------------------------------------------------
  84.    Your CD installation pre-configures Pronto with some of the 
  85.    right parameters to connect with your Internet Service Provider.
  86.    When the program is invoked for the first time, it displays 
  87.    a series of dialogs which help you setup the program. 
  88.    The values for the pre-configured parameters will appear already 
  89.    filled-in. It is recommended NOT to change those values unless 
  90.    you are experienced with these settings.
